A Creative Morning, Tiny Sweaters & the Village Behind Small Business

There’s something so special about gifts that feel personal. The kind that become part of memories, get tucked away in keepsake boxes, and years later still carry a story.

That’s exactly why custom name sweaters have become my go-to baby gift.

They’re thoughtful, timeless, and somehow manage to feel both cozy and meaningful all at once.

What makes them even more special to me is who makes them. What started as supporting an incredibly talented local maker slowly turned into a client relationship… and eventually a friendship. One of those beautiful full-circle connections small businesses create.

Before gifting my nephews their sweaters, I had this idea in my head. I wanted to surprise my friend with product photos she could use for her business. So, early on a kiddo-free Saturday morning, coffee in hand, I got to work.

I had a full vision planned out. Soft textures. Warm tones. Cozy little details.

But once I started building the flat lays, something felt missing.

I knew exactly what it was. Tiny baby shoes.

The only problem? I didn’t have any on hand.

So, in true village-fashion, I messaged my neighbour — who also happens to be an amazing client — asking if by chance she had some baby shoes I could borrow.

Not long after, she and her sweet little man walked over carrying a bag absolutely full of tiny shoes. And somehow, sitting in that bag, were the shoes from my vision.

The exact pair I had pictured in my mind.

And just like that, my dining room exploded into a creative, coffee-fueled frenzy. Sweaters everywhere. Tiny shoes scattered across the table. Blankets, props, camera gear, and complete chaos in the best possible way.

Honestly? Those are some of my favourite kinds of mornings.

The kind where creativity takes over and everything just clicks.

And somehow, the final product photos turned out even better than I imagined.

Not because they were perfect. But because they carried so much heart behind them. Community. Friendship. Creativity. Support.

The kind of story I love most.
