Meet Cass, the Kingston, Ontario photographer behind Frontenac Photography. A heartfelt story rooted in family, connection, and preserving meaningful moments.

My name is Cass, and I’m the photographer and owner behind Frontenac Photography,
based in the beautiful city of Kingston, Ontario — my hometown.
I’ve always had a love for photography. Long before it became a business, I was the one documenting trips, everyday moments, and the in-between memories. Family would often say I had an eye for photography, and while there were many moments in my life when I could have leaned into it, I didn’t — until one moment changed everything.
When my son was born, he arrived with a heart condition that wasn’t diagnosed until after birth. He spent two weeks at SickKids Hospital and underwent open-heart double bypass surgery at just six days old. When we finally brought him home, he wasn’t able to have the traditional newborn photos. He couldn’t be moved or posed easily, and so many of those early moments passed quietly, undocumented in the way I had imagined.
That experience changed the way I saw photographs forever.

I began photographing everything — milestones, ordinary days, quiet moments — almost as if I was trying to make up for lost time. At the time, I didn’t even own a camera. I borrowed my in-laws’ camera constantly because I wanted my son to grow up with a childhood he could look back on through photographs, even if those images were taken by his “slightly obsessed” mom on someone else’s camera.

Seeing how much joy and purpose photography brought me, my husband rallied both of our families together to gift me my first camera. (My in-laws were also more than happy to finally have theirs returned.) From there, photography became more than a hobby — it became a way to preserve life as it unfolds.
In June 2019, I officially launched Frontenac Photography as a way to share my work with the Kingston community. In the early days, my focus was on learning, growing, and refining my skills. I photographed nature, friends, and family — anyone willing to step in front of my lens — until September 2019, when my very first client reached out.
The rest truly is history.
Today, Frontenac Photography is built on connection, trust, and storytelling. I believe photographs should feel honest, warm, and reflective of real life — not just perfectly posed moments, but the meaningful ones in between. I’m endlessly grateful to the clients who invite me into their lives again and again, and I never take that trust lightly.

If you’re looking for a Kingston, Ontario photographer who values connection, understands the importance of preserving moments, and approaches every session with care, I would be honoured to tell your story.
xoxo
Cass
