The Beauty of a Fresh 48 Session

There’s something incredibly special about the first hours after welcoming a new baby into the world. The room may be quiet and slow, filled with sleepy cuddles, tiny stretches, soft tears, and the kind of love that changes everything all at once.

A Fresh 48 session is designed to capture exactly that. These sessions take place within the first 24–48 hours after birth, usually right in the hospital, and focus on documenting your family naturally as you settle into those very first moments together.

Unlike a posed newborn session, Fresh 48 sessions are about connection and storytelling. The tiny hospital bracelets, wrinkly newborn skin, the way your baby curls perfectly into your chest, siblings meeting for the first time, exhausted smiles from brand new parents — all of those fleeting little details deserve to be remembered too.

One of the things I love most about Fresh 48 sessions is getting to witness the very beginning

of a family’s new chapter. There’s such an honesty and tenderness in those moments that can never truly be recreated later.

It also means so much to me to be trusted and welcomed into the hospital during such an intimate and emotional time. Being invited into those first memories is something I never take lightly. My approach during these sessions is always calm, gentle, and unhurried — allowing space for your family to simply be present with one another while I quietly document the moments unfolding naturally.

The beauty of a Fresh 48 session is that it doesn’t require perfection. There’s no pressure for everything to feel polished or put together. These sessions are about preserving the feeling of those first hours exactly as they were — the love, the overwhelm, the excitement, and the quiet in-between moments that become part of your family’s story forever.

If documenting those first precious hours with your little one feels meaningful to you, I would absolutely love to help tell that story in an honest and heartfelt way. 🤍
